Nitra wine region is located in the northern part of the Nitra region and a small part of the Trnava region. Of all the wine regions of Slovakia is marked out najrôznorodejšími natural conditions. Vineyards are planted on slopes pahorkatiny, Tribeca and also the loess plains of the Danube. Historically, the planting of vines in Nitra deeply rooted in the past, the oldest surviving evidence of vineyards date back to the Great Moravian viniculture probably started to look Zobor monastery of monks in the ninth century. Nitra wine region is divided into nine wine area and one hundred fifty-eight wine villages. The total area under vines is officially registered 3,903 ha. It is grown here mainly white and gray Burgundy, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Lemberger blue. Gewürztraminer, Grüner Veltliner, Müller-Thurgau and St. Laurent complement the range of cultivated varieties.
